Tradescantia "Blue and Gold"
(Spiderwort)
These lovely triangular blue flowers
bloom all summer long
on the golden, grass like foliage,
...and is still blooming into late September
in my Flower Garden. : )
It is called spiderwort because,
when the stems are broken,
the sap runs out and
forms filaments that are spider like.

I have a spiderwort and I love it. The colours of the leaves and blooms together are so bright in the garden. I didn't know why it was called that though until now. Mine is still blooming.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful little flower! They grow wild here.
ReplyDeleteI have spiderwort, but did not know that's how it gets it's name, Here in UT it only blooms for a while in spring. Still, I enjoy it. Thanks for sharing your lovely photo with SYC.
