My Garden - Rockcress Bursts into Bloom

With all the sunshine and warm weather we had this past week...

the Rockcress  (Arabis) in my garden exploded into bloom...

making a cheerful and aromatic...

ground cover between the heathers...
What is not to love about that!  : )

Willowy Green

You must look closely,
but look, YESSSS...
...the  Weeping Willow Tree is
showing signs of greenery...
...rather yellow greenery,
but never mind,
there are tiny leaves on the tree.
That means spring, don't you think?
(...and pretend you din't see the snow on the mountain)  : )

Barn - The Red Barn Farm

This is a very attractive setup that
we should call the Red Barn Farm...

...and the original barn is clad in red metal...

...looking just as spiffy as...

...the modern barns are, don't you think?

April is Near

The last few days have been below average temperatures,
with spring showers, hail, rain and sleet mixed.....
but even though the clouds are dark,
the grass is green
and April is near.

Fresh Snow and Chilly

It is still winter on the high ridges of the coastal mountains....

...where fresh snow has accumulated in the last few days...

and although the valleys are green
and we briefly hear the robins sing in the morning hours..
the ocean breezes still
feel bone numbing chilly.

Like Ducks Take to Water...

All the recent rains have created
enormous puddles in the farmers fields...

...and an incredible number of mallard ducks have taken to the water...
just like ducks.....
on a blustery, March day.

Barn - Study of Contrasts

Another large, old dairy barn...

...looking sleek and proud beside it's smaller twin...

...which looks very tattered, worn and decrepit...
...mottled??!

... another view of the barn twins.  : )

Elusive Sun

Dreaming about sunny days ahead...
someday we will be able to see the mountains again
...when the elusive sun shines.  : )

When the Sun Peaks Through..

On rainy days the sun often appears in the late afternoon,
...creating interesting colours and effects.

I love how the wet road reflects the sunlight!

My Garden - Catkins

One of the first signs of spring
 are the beautiful catkins
decorating the bare limbed trees.
At this time of year
almost everyone is looking for spring.  :   )

Equine Friends

I couldn't help but photograph these two friends...

...contently watching the view from "their place"...

...a peaceful little farm yard.

Barn - Old Dairy

Surrounded by blueberry fields...

...this old dairy barn...

...still looks snug...

..and well used.

Steller's Jay

As I was enjoying the Pussy Willows...
I suddenly noticed two Steller's Jays quietly posing for me...
Usually they fuss at you if you come too close...

...but this pair was quietly, patiently watching
as I took a photograph of one...

...and then the other.

Maybe they were really tired.

My Garden - Miniature Iris

These miniature irises surprise me every spring....

...as they seem to burst into full bloom overnight...

...what a delightful discovery...

along with the crocuses and snowdrops.  : )
