Hiking the Ridge

After a 45 minute, steep switchback climb
beginning near the Coquihalla highway rest area,
the hike to Needle peak, on a gorgeous sunny day,
 continuous along the ridge...

...with open views on both sides,
showing layer upon layer of mountains.

My Garden - "Summer Storm"

A few days ago my Hibiscus (Rose Mallow)
bloomed for the first time...

...it is so exciting to see these humongous flowers
open their faces...

... to grace our lives with their beauty.
This Hibiscus, with it's 10 inch flowers is
appropriately called Summer Storm
(Hibiscu Summerific "Summer Storm")

Barn - Rustic Red

I love the red paint on this rustic shed,

bringing out the texture of the wood.

The leaning door adds an element of charm.

Cloud Cap Mountain

We often travel the Yellowhead highway to Alberta,
...and one of the highlights of the trip is Mt. Robson,
the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies,
and the second highest in BC,
(after Mt. Waddington).

On a clear day, as you drive around a curve on highway 16,
the mountain jumps up at you and
dominates the view,
taking your breath away.

The summit is often obscured in clouds,
and is famous for its terrible weather conditions
for those attempting to climb to the summit..
(there is only a 10% summit rate)
Hence the nickname Cloud Cap Mountain.

Coquihalla Highway

Hiking up the trail above the Coquihalla Summit,
on a beautiful day,
allows for widespread views all around.
The Coquihalla Highway
in the valley below
allows motorists to travel quickly
from the coast to central BC.
