Mountain Memorial

One of the notable mountains
seen on last week's hike, here
was Mt Slesse, (meaning fang),
rising above the narrow valleys
filled with early morning summer haze.
It was the site of a 1956 plane crash (see here)....

...so tragic and now a memorial.

Looking north towards MT Cheam and Lady peak
and miles of wilderness.

Rewarding Hike

(Cultus Lake in the distance)

Went for a lovely hike early yesterday morning...

(Snow capped Mt. Baker)

...up Elk Mountain and on to Mt Thurston,
where there were lovely panoramic views
of the surrounding mountains
and the valleys below....

...along the ridge...

...on a well traveled trail
edged with lovely wildflowers.

My Garden - A Rustic Bird

This rustic ornamental bird
has been gracing my garden for several years...

...keeping an eye on the Shasta Daisies.

Had a wonderful week camping with family,
and it was a joy to see
 which plants in my garden
had developed blooms
in the meantime!
